Isla Health, the team behind the Digital Pathway Platform (DPP), today announced the launch of its new European headquarters in Ireland. Supported by the Irish government, through IDA Ireland, the move marks a major step in Isla’s mission to take its technology beyond the UK and into broader European and global markets.
Over the next three years, Isla plans to create 20 high-value roles in Ireland. The expansion follows a period of rapid growth within the UK, where Isla’s digital pathway platform has become a staple for clinicians looking to automate routine tasks and manage patient care remotely.
The new Irish team will focus on software engineering, clinical informatics, and product management, serving as the primary engine for Isla’s international R&D and customer success operations.
Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Peter Burke, said:
Isla Health’s decision to establish its European headquarters in Ireland highlights our country’s reputation as a hub for innovation and talent. This investment not only strengthens Ireland’s position in the digital health sector but also creates valuable new opportunities for our people and supports this Government’s commitment to balanced regional development.
Peter Hansell, CEO and Co-founder of Isla Health, said: I’m thrilled to be able to begin the next phase of our work with Isla in Ireland. We are seeing a tremendous impact within the UK NHS and with several Irish hospitals, so now is the time to extend that impact internationally with the launch of our new base in Sligo.
James Jurkiewicz, CTO and Co-founder of Isla Health, added: Ireland’s technical talent is the perfect foundation for our team as we work to support the country's healthcare evolution. We’re focused on making care easier to deliver. Our Irish hub will continue to develop the Digital Pathway Platform (DPP) to simplify complex clinical workflows, handling the heavy lifting of admin so that clinicians can keep their focus where it belongs, on the patient. This isn't just about technology; it’s about building a scalable infrastructure for the future of European healthcare.
Michael Lohan, CEO of IDA Ireland, said: I am pleased to welcome today’s announcement by Isla Health which is set to bring valuable investment and high-skilled jobs. This announcement demonstrates further the North West’s growing reputation as a centre for technology and innovation and IDA Ireland looks forward to working with Isla Health as they grow their presence here.
Shifting the model of care
The expansion comes as healthcare systems worldwide face mounting pressure to deliver "Right Care, Right Place, Right Time." Isla’s digital pathway platform allows patients to securely share digital media (like photos, sound recordings, or videos of symptoms) from home. This "patient-as-partner" approach reduces unnecessary travel, cuts down on hospital wait times, and provides clinicians with real-time data to make better decisions.
Beyond the clinic, Isla’s technology also supports global sustainability goals. By digitising the patient journey, Isla has already saved millions of travel miles, helping healthcare providers meet ambitious carbon-neutral targets.
Building the future of healthtech in Ireland
This expansion represents a major investment in local talent, as Isla looks to recruit the technical and clinical-support experts who will lead the next wave of healthcare transformation. By establishing a dedicated home in Ireland, Isla is creating a centre of excellence where Irish-led innovation will be developed and exported to healthcare providers worldwide.
